Do people understand you always ?

Why is it easy to get along with some people than others?

Communication happens on the listener's terms. Everything you say to a person is filtered through his frames of reference, biases and preconceived ideas. We have to deal with different people in our day today life. They might be different in every aspects. According to the  book "Surrounded by Idiots " by Thomas Erikson, we can identify there are 4 types of different behaviours of people and how they communicate with each other.




According to above book people can be categorised into four colours named Red, Green, Yellow and Blue.




These are primary behavioural types which describe how people sees themselves in relationship to their environment.

Every person cannot work together because of their different behaviours. So we must have a good understand about other's behaviours. Otherwise conflicts can be occurred.

Each colour represent different type of behaviour patterns. Let us get some knowledge about each type of behaviour pattern separately. 




RED :

  • Quick and more than happy to take command if needed.
  • They make things happen.
  • They become control freaks and can be hopeless to deal with.

YELLOW :

  • Can be amusing
  • Creative
  • Not allow anyone into a conversation
  • Will consume all the oxygen in the room

Green :

  • Friendly
  • Easy to hang out with because they are so pleasant 
  • Genuinely care for others.
  • Indecision kills the energy in other people.

Blue :

  • Analytical
  • Calm
  • Levelheaded
  • Think before they speak
  • Cool headed
  • Everything can become suspect and sinister.


Better to have all types :

Yellow come up with a new idea, the Red makes decisions, Green has to do all the work and Blue evaluates and makes sure that the results are excellent.





What makes conflicts? 

Diagonal combinations can occur some troubles when the are working together. Blue and Green can work together as well as Red and Yellow also can work smoothly without any trouble.




This demonstrates that people in society are with different behaviours. A few has one colour, many has 2 colours, and some have 3 colours. By understanding each and every behavioural type we should work in self awareness and we should be a good listener to minimize  conflicts among people in the society.

Argumentation is a process of two or more people making arguments,responding to one another not simply restating the same claims and reasons and modifying or defending their positions accordingly.
